Family Day for a Kentucky Guard Unit

The packs were presented by the University of Kentucky Operation Military Kids and the Community Extension Service"] SOMERSET, Ky(September 13, 2010).— More than 200 Soldiers and their Family members enjoyed a Family Day celebration Aug. 29, at the Pulaski County Park in Somerset.  Soldiers assigned to Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 149th Infantry, and Det. 2, 1st Battalion, 149th Infantry joined their spouses and Family members for a day of fun and information about what the State Family Assistance Center can provide to Kentucky Guard Families while on duty or off.  Many members of the Somerset community donated time and services to help support the event.  “We thank our community groups and employers who support our Kentucky Guard Citizen-Soldiers and their Family throughout the year,” said Capt. Daniel Mays, B Co., commander.  Also recognized during the event were several retired and current Kentucky Guardsmen who were honored during an awards presentation.
