Army Sgt. Brian Ewalt of the Kentucky National Guard’s 202nd Army Band performs May 30, 2022, during at a service honoring members of the Kentucky Guard who have died in the line of duty. The serviced, held at Boone National Guard Center in Frankfort, Ky., commemorated 13 soldiers whose names were added to the Kentucky National Guard Memorial this year. Of the names being added, 11 were killed during World War I, one in 1935 during weekend training, and another in 2001 just prior to 9/11. The monument now honors 286 Solders and Airmen from the Kentucky Guard who have paid the ultimate price for freedom since 1912. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Dale Greer)
