Fran Dankovic, of Lexington, Ohio sits next to the newly placed headstone of her great uncle, U.S. Army Sgt. John F. Rowalt, of Bellville, Ohio Nov.4, 2023. Rowalt had served during the Indian Wars before contracting small-pox and dying around the age of 28 in Cincinnati and buried at the nearby Kentucky cemetery.
