NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC OF INTENT TO DEVELOP A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT
and
INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE
On the
Development of a Memorandum of Agreement among the National Guard Bureau, the Kentucky Department of Military Affairs-Kentucky Army National Guard, and the Kentucky Heritage Council (State Historic Preservation Office) on Historic Preservation Regarding an Adverse Effect to the National Register of Historic Places Listed Ashland Armory.
The Kentucky Army National Guard (KYARNG) intends to develop a memorandum of agreement (MOA) regarding its obligations under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended, and 36 CFR 800. This law requires that federal undertakings be reviewed for their impact on historic properties, including historic structures and archaeological sites. As an organization that receives Federal funding and has oversight, KYARNG activities are considered Federal undertakings and thus subject to review under Section 106. The proposed MOA will outline mitigation measures to offset an adverse effect to the Ashland Armory as a result of a window replacement project. In accordance with 36 CFR 800.6(a)(4) and 800.14(b)(2)(ii)), the KYARNG herewith informs all interested persons or groups of the intent to develop this MOA and invites them to participate as a consulting party.
