Applicability
This policy applies to all participants engaging with official Kentucky National Guard (KYNG) social media platforms and public-facing digital content managed by KYNG employees.
The KYNG uses this website and various social media platforms to promote transparency, encourage public participation, and share information about our mission, training, and service to the Commonwealth and nation. Our goal is to provide accurate and timely updates while fostering respectful engagement with our community.
Please note that we do not endorse or take responsibility for comments, opinions, or content posted by visitors to any of our pages or this website. All users are expected to engage respectfully and in line with our community engagement guidelines.
Guidelines
To maintain a professional and mission-focused space, all users engaging online on KYNG platforms must adhere to the following rules:
(1) No hate speech, harassment, or threats
- We do not allow racist, sexist, discriminatory, or hateful language
- Harassment, bullying, or personal attacks against individuals or groups will not be tolerated
- Threats of violence, harm, or intimidation—whether implied or direct—are strictly prohibited
(2) No encouragement of illegal activity or violence
- Attempts to incite riots, protests, or unlawful actions are prohibited
- Content that promotes, encourages, or glorifies illegal acts will also be removed
(3) No sharing of sensitive, classified or illegal content
- Do not post/share classified, sensitive or controlled unclassified information related to military operations, including operational details, mission schedules, or troop movements
- Personal information (such as contact details of service members) should not be shared
- Any content that violates operational security (OPSEC), privacy regulations, or other legal guidelines will be removed
(4) No defamatory, false, or misleading information about individuals, organizations, or policies
- All claims, including comments designed to harm reputations, must be fact-based and verifiable
- The spread of false, misleading, or intentionally deceptive information (misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation) is strictly prohibited and will be removed
(5) No spam, trolling, or disruptive behavior
- Repetitive comments, off-topic posts, and spam may be removed
- Trolling, or intentionally provoking arguments, is prohibited
- Disruptive behavior that intentionally derails discussions, spreads misinformation, or interferes with the KYNG’s communication mission will be subject to moderation or removal
(6) No political endorsements, campaigning, lobbying, or debates
- This is a nonpartisan platform. Do not use it to support or oppose political parties, candidates, or legislation.
- Attempts to influence government action, promote policy changes, or lobby for legislation will be removed
- Political debates are not permitted
(7) No advertisements, promotions, solicitations, or endorsements for non-federal entities
- This page is not a marketplace. Selling products, promoting businesses, or fundraising for personal causes is not permitted.
- We do not allow the endorsement or promotion of non-governmental organizations, businesses, or services
- Posting unsolicited links or spam-like messages is prohibited
Administrative Moderation & Policy Enforcement
Comments that violate these guidelines may be hidden or removed in accordance with DoD Instruction 5400.17, which governs the official use of social media. Repeat offenders may be blocked to maintain the integrity of the digital space.
We do not remove comments simply because they express criticism, controversial viewpoints, or unflattering opinions about the Kentucky National Guard. However, we reserve the right to remove content that violates guidelines, including misinformation, harassment, and other policy violations.
