GREENVILLE, Ky. (Aug. 5, 2010)—
Gathered in the early morning on July 21st at Wendell H. Ford Regional Training Center, Soldiers from the 103rd Brigade Support Battalion were prepared for a real tear jerker as Chlorobenzylidene Malononitrile, or tear gas, filled the chambers as they walked through.
The Soldiers donned their gas masks and entered the gas chamber, knowing it would most definitely be a bad day if their masks weren’t sealed properly. In the end, they were instructed on how to remove and re-seal their masks in a chemical environment. Those who failed got burned—literally.

This was all part of the 103rd Brigade Support Battalions Annual Training, set up to ensure Soldiers are proficient in their Warrior Tasks, with the gas chamber being some extra incentive to pay attention to what’s being taught. Soldiers from the 103rd’s Headquarters Company in Harrodsburg, as well as A. Co. in Danville and B. Co. in Frankfort participated in the training.
