FRANKFORT, Ky.(August 10, 2010)--Kim Knight, Executive Director, of the Kentucky National Guard Association joined Maj. Gen. Edward W. Tonini to present a $5,000 check from the Kentucky National Guard Historical Foundation towards the construction of the Kentucky National Guard Memorial. The donation, taking the fund over the $50,000 mark, came from the proceeds of hosting the Adjutants General Association of the United States annual conference in Louisville earlier this year. Representing the Kentucky National Guard Memorial Fund, Inc. were board chairman SFC (R) John M. Trowbridge, board secretary Jason M. LeMay and board member COL (R) Michael A. Jones.
The mission of the Kentucky National Guard Historical Foundation is to preserve the memorabilia, photos and history of the Kentucky National Guard. It is a non-profit, sister organization of the NGAKY. (Learn more at

The Kentucky National Guard Memorial Fund, Inc. - also a non-profit organization - has one mission to raise money to design and construct a memorial at the entrance to Boone National Guard Center honoring all Kentucky Guardsmen who have served in the Modern Kentucky National Guard, in any duty status, from March 1912 to present and especially those who have perished in the line of duty. Currently 95 names of Kentucky Guardsmen who perished in the line of duty have been identified and another 40 names have been suggested and are being researched. (Learn more at
