FRANKFORT, Ky. (Sept. 10, 2010) –-Soldiers and Airmen, along with civilian employees, enjoyed a day of sunshine Sept. 2. At the annual Boone National Guard Center Summer Picnic held at Juniper Hill Park.

The picnic is an end-of-summer tradition in which BNGC employees from each directorate office shows their competitive side at sack racing, corn hole, volleyball and other traditional picnic games. In keeping with the picnic theme, guest enjoyed fried chicken, baked beans, and assorted sweet treats.
BNGC directorates used the festive day to recognize their employees. More than 60 individual awards for outstanding achievements were presented.

Capt. Eva Slusher, human resources specialist, Recruitment and Placement, received the National Guard Bureau Certificate of Service in recognition of 15 years Federal Service.
Sgt. Andrew H. Drane, surface maintenance repairer of Combine Support Maintenance Shop, received the National Guard Bureau Certificate of Service in recognition of 10-years Federal Service.
