Dec. 9, 2009 | By kentuckyguard
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWFkZfyGv8c] Family members crammed into a small room in fold-out chairs for a departure ceremony held in Frankfort honoring the Kentucky National Guard's 171st Aviation Detachment. “We’re going to be hauling band-aids, beans, and bullets,” Loadmaster Sgt. Daryl B. Casey said prior to the ceremony. This combat tour marks the third one for the small 11-man detachment since 2003. “I was telling my family that all the unknown about being deployed – it’s not there this time,” Casey said. “We’re ready to get over there, do our job, get busy, do what we’re trained to do.”
