Kentucky Officials Celebrate Opening of the National Responder Preparedness Center

Tonini joined Kentucky Fire Commission Executive Director Ronnie Day in a ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly constructed National Responder Preparedness Center at the Kentucky National Guard's Wendell H. Ford, Greenville, Ky. "This is definitely a win-win for all involved," Day stated to a substantial crowd of spectators and supporters of the new facility. Funded by the Kentucky Fire Commission, the new million dollar facility will be beneficial to both the Kentucky National Guard and Kentucky Fire Commission  in training opportunities that include national and international  certifications, the Kentucky Community and Technical College System degree  program, specialized industrial programs, U.S. Forestry training initiatives,  Junior Firefighter Academy and others. "We are especially proud of this new facility," said Tonini. "It shows a commitment to our Guard in providing world class training as well as ensuring a high return on the taxpayer’s investment. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is where we find the true value in this training center." Future plans include a $10 million 25 acre training site complete with an aircraft simulator, rail cars  or hazardous materials training and a burn tower for rappelling and close quarter fire training.  Click here for more information regarding the National Responder Preparedness Center.
