Scott Raymond) FRANKFORT, Ky. -- The Kentucky National Guard commemorated this Memorial Day with a ceremony at the Guard's memorial at Boone National Guard Center in Frankfort, May 30. Highlighting the ceremony was the addition of 18 new names to the monument of Kentucky Guardsmen who have perished in the line of duty. The additions bring the number of names honored to nearly 250. "I take a great deal of comfort looking at this wall, because I know the names inscribed on it are in a position where they feel no pain, no regret, no anxiety or remorse," said Brig Gen. Stephen R. Hogan, Kentucky's adjutant general. "It also gives me great comfort that the names on this wall volunteered to stand between the average American and chaos. And they did so to protect people they'd never meet. They raised their hands and took the oath without mental reservation or purpose of evasion. Each who's name is on this wall, left behind family, friends, comrades to carry on." Click here for more photos.
