149th Vertical Engineering Company promotes soldiers

Albert Elliott/ HQs Hohenfels, GE – The 149th Vertical Engineering Company in Cynthiana, KY promoted four soldiers on 5 April 2010, their first day of Annual Training in Hohenfels, Germany. Promoted to Private First Class were Michael Horn and Joshua House. Promoted to Specialist Four were Brandon Carter and Rebecca Preston. Specialist Preston of Paris, KY was excited about getting promoted and having the ceremony in Germany made the promotion for her even more special.

The Engineers also celebrated another promotion. On April 12, 2010 Second Lieutenant Kenny Staley of Lexington KY, was promoted to First Lieutenant.

The Kentucky Soldiers are tasked with continuing a construction project for the Joint Multinational Readiness Center (JMRC) in Germany. This facility recreates the operational environment coalition forces face in Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan. The training facility will recreate an environment that soldiers will face in actual operations. The 149th Vertical Engineering Company is led by Captain Terry Durham of Louisville, KY and First Sergeant Jessie Withers or Winchester, KY.
