FRANKFORT, Ky. -- Kentucky National Guard Memorial Fund Chairman John Trowbridge received a check for $500 from Linda Rucker, Kentucky Army National Guard Federal Credit Union Manager. The check was presented during a cookout at Boone National Guard Center sponsored by the credit union.
The Kentucky National Guard Memorial is
designed to honor all fallen Kentucky Army and Air National Guardsmen. The site of the memorial is at Boone Center. A construction date is pending.
"It's great that the credit union is supporting this project," said Trowbridge. "We appreciate the money we get from everyone, but it was really special that a long-time friend like the Kentucky Army National Guard Federal Credit Union be a part of this effort."
2nd Lt. Joshua Witt, president of the credit union board, was on hand to take part in the ceremony.
"With over a thousand members, our credit union is closely tied with the work of the Kentucky Guard," he said. "And we are proud to be partners in building this memorial."
The cookout also kicked off an awareness campaign for the Kentucky National Guard Memorial 2011 "Ride to Remember," which is scheduled to take place on Aug. 13. The KYARNG Federal Credit Union is also a sponsor of that event.
"That should be a lot of fun as well as a great chance to serve a great cause," said Witt, a motorcycle enthusiast himself. "It's only natural that we help out as the credit union does a lot of lending for motorcycles."
Also attending the presentation were memorial fund board members Freddie Maggard, Jason LeMay and Mike Jones.
