Lexington, Ky. — Kentucky National Guard Yellow Ribbon Program hosted a Reintegration Training Event at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Lexington, Ky. In attendance were members of the Kentucky National Guard Agribusiness Development Team 2 and 3-20
thSpecial Forces Group and their families.
Over the weekend classes were taught by professionals on topics such as reestablishing relationships, financial planning, and benefits available to them like
TRICARE,
ESGR, and
Military One source. Capt. Bryan Combs, Family Support Programs Director, covered education benefits including the
Post 9-11 GI Bill and other available opportunities.

Breakout sessions gave families specific information based on their personal situation. While the parents were in class children were provided with plenty of activities; the Yellow Ribbon Staff teamed up with Joint Support Operations giving the kids opportunities to play and learn team building and interactive skills.
The Yellow Ribbon event encompassed a wide variety of benefits and service providers. Col. (Ret.) Phil Miller from Kentucky Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve spoke about effective ways service members can return to the workforce after a deployment. He also emphasized workshops and other opportunities available for career development to Kentucky Guard Members.
“The weekend was a great success," said 1st Lt. Oscar Ortiz, Yellow Ribbon Program coordinator.

"We had more than a hundred participants from the Air and Army Guard take advantage of the reintegration weekend," Ortiz said. "Preparation for future events like this are in the works, and one of the best ways to stay informed is to follow us on Facebook."
